Luxury automaker Rolls Royce has just announced that they will be creating a production model based on their experimental two-door, four-seat 101EX concept. The new coupe will be produced from next summer at the company's manufacturing plant in Goodwood, England, and will launch in 2008.
The hand-made new two-door will be based on the Phantom and Drophead Coupe which Rolls already produces, though it is created around a passionate desire to make it the world's premier transcontinental tourer.
The new model is built similarly to its siblings- with an aluminum-extensive construction and 453 horsepower V12 engine. Rolls Royce says it is tuned more subtly and intended to place more emphasis on the driver, however.
Ian Robertson, Chairman and Chief Executive at Rolls-Royce, said "this new model represents an important milestone in the company's history. It completes the Phantom family and judging by the customer reaction to 101EX, we are confident of its success. Our challenge lies in meeting the exceptional levels of customer demand for the Phantom range and in preparing Goodwood to meet the needs of future new cars."
More details and pricing on the new Coupe will be announced closer to its on-sale date.
